NOTES FOR TEAM CAPTAINS OF RULE CHANGES AND INFORMATION

Where a Club has two or more teams in the SAME DIVISION a player can only play for the team that he is registered with.

A player is allowed to play in the League for his Club in a Higher Division FOUR times. If that player then plays a FIFTH time he becomes a member of that team and is ineligible to play for his original team

A player must have played THREE LEAGUE GAMES to qualify to play in any LV Cup competitions and the Merit, Individual and Pairs

Teams to consist of ten players. All games 21 up.

The team wins the match with the most total chalks scored.

Home win, one point an individual winner and one point a team

Away win, two points an individual winner and two points a team

Drawn match on chalks, nil points home team, one point away team

Highest aggregate of chalks over two matches winner has additional four points

Drawn aggregate of chalks over two matches two points each team

CUP MATCHES

Players who have played a cup game for their registered team are then cup tied.

A player whose team is in the Alf Thomas Cup and is not cup tied may play for another of his club teams that are in the Eddie Peet Cup but then becomes cup tied to that team.

Games may only be postponed due TO BAD WEATHER and the time for replayed games is now 14 days and must be completed before the end of the league season

SECOND DIVISION ONLY

As there are seven teams, for the first six matches each team will play three home and three away playing each other once.

One point for each winning player home and away.

One point for home team win on chalks

Two points for away win on chalks

Points will count towards the Division Table.

AFTER THIS THE NORMAL LV FIXTURES WILL COMMENCE

Result Cards. Please ensure that they are completed in black pen and are legible as they have to be photocopied for submission to the Southport Visitor.

SOUTHPORT LV BOWLING LEAGUE  FOR 2012 SEASON

The Committee have received various verbal comments for a proposal for the AGM in November that the League be formed into Two Divisions although no formal proposal has been put forward by a Club to date.

The Committee  have examined how it could work and identified any problem areas for Clubs to consider, and for the Clubs to put forward any other options.

There are at present 27 teams in the League. If unchanged this would give a Premier Division of 14 and a First Division of 13. Fourteen in a Division is the maximum.

To accommodate 26 games, next season would start on 3rd April and finish on 25th September. If adopted clubs MUST commit to all greens being made available on these dates.

There are 4 clubs (7 teams) without lights so early starts in April, August and September are unavoidable.

The Premier Division would always be on Tuesday nights. (Unless a club has 3 teams in the Division when Wednesday evenings would be needed). Not in 2012 season.

The First Division would be a mixture of Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  See enclosed list.

Each two weeks in the First Division one team would have no game, (As at present in the

Second Division) until there are 14 teams.

There would be no spare weeks for postponed games and Clubs would have to ensure that a replay was completed within 14 days without fail..

LV MERIT, LV INDIVIDUAL AND LV PAIRS

Due to the lack of support from players the Officers will submit a proposal for the AGM that these competitions be cancelled.

If it is the wish of the Clubs at the AGM to continue with any of the competitions then

the Committee would undertake all the preparatory work but would require the Host Club to run the events on behalf of the League, and expect sufficient entries.

EDDIE PEET AND ALF THOMAS CUPS

In order to play these in the first two weeks in October the first and second round would have to be played on the Tuesday and Wednesday of the first week and the semi-final and final on those days in the second week. For that first Tuesday we would need 11(eleven) greens.

Point number one: We only have 9 clubs with lights.

Point number two: Can the Clubs with lights guarantee that their greens will still be open and available in October.

Point number three: October in our opinion is a non starter so the alternative is to play on Sundays. This happens in the Parks League but to also apply it to the LV League would cause teams to drop out and also it would be difficult to find greens for a Sunday

The Committee have given a lot of time and thought to these matters and if the majority of Clubs require a Two Division League then a balance has to be made and these two cup competitions would have to be suspended.  We hope that by giving you time to consider this topic before the season ends you can discuss it with your members and come to the AGM with your Club's formal response if required...

Many thanks

Doug Murray

Secretary.
