NOTES FOR TEAM CAPTAINS OF RULE CHANGES AND INFORMATION
Where a Club has two or more teams in the SAME DIVISION a player can only play for the team that he is registered with.
A player is allowed to play in the League for his Club in a Higher Division TWICE. If that player then plays a THIRD time he becomes a member of that team and is ineligible to play for his original team
A player must have played THREE LEAGUE GAMES to qualify to play in any LV Cup competitions and the Merit, Individual and Pairs
Teams to consist of ten players. All games 21 up.
The team wins the match with the most total chalks scored.
Home win, one point an individual winner and one point a team
Away win, two points an individual winner and two points a team
Drawn match on chalks, nil points home team, one point away team
Highest aggregate of chalks over two matches winner has additional four points
Drawn aggregate of chalks over two matches two points each team
CUP MATCHES
Players who have played a cup game for their registered team are then cup tied.
A player whose team is in the Alf Thomas Cup and is not cup tied may play for another of his club teams that are in the Eddie Peet Cup but then becomes cup tied to that team.
Games may only be postponed due TO BAD WEATHER and the time for replayed games is now 14 days and must be completed before the end of the league season
SECOND DIVISION ONLY
As there are seven teams, for the first six matches each team will play three home and three away playing each other once.
One point for each winning player home and away.
One point for home team win on chalks
Two points for away win on chalks
Points will count towards the Division Table.
AFTER THIS THE NORMAL LV FIXTURES WILL COMMENCE
Result Cards. Please ensure that they are completed in black pen and are legible as they have to be photocopied for submission to the Southport Visitor.

SOUTHPORT LV BOWLING LEAGUE
The Committee anticipate from comments received that at the AGM in November proposals for the League to be in Two Divisions will be put forward.
As there is a time delay between the end of the season and the AGM it is said by clubs that it can be difficult to contact players for their views.
The Committee, having made a sample fixture list, have examined how it could work and identified any problem areas for clubs to consider, and to state any other options.
There are at present 27 teams in the league. If unchanged this would give a Premier Division of 14 and a First Division of 13.
To accommodate 26 games next season would start on 31st March and finish on 21st September. As 12 of the 13 clubs play in the Vets League which nearly cover these dates would all greens be available?
There are 4 clubs (7 teams) without lights so early starts in April, August and September are unavoidable.
The Premier Division would always be on Tuesday nights. (Unless a club has 3 teams in the Division when Wednesday evenings would be needed).
The First Division would be a mixture of Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Clubs with 3 teams in the League would have one team playing a majority of games on Wednesday and the second team a mixture of days.
Clubs with 1 or 2 teams in the League would play all home games on a Tuesday and the majority of away games on a Tuesday with some Wednesday away games.
Each two weeks in the First Division one team would have no game. (As at present in the second division)
There would be no spare weeks for postponed games and Clubs would have to ensure that a replay was completed within 14 days.
LV MERIT, LV INDIVIDUAL AND LV PAIRS
For your information the entries in recent years have been;
2006 2007 2008 2009
MERIT Not played Not played 32 32
INDIVIDUAL 72 58 48 40
PAIRS 32 Pairs 32 Pairs 26 Pairs Not yet played
The LV Merit has now run well for two years based on the new format of a one day (Sunday) competition with a limit of 32 entries.
The LV Individual and LV Pairs would not have any evenings available for qualifying rounds. Could these be run like The Merit on a Sunday, say using several greens on the day and another for the Final in the evening.
Or, limit the number of entries to 32 and have a club run it as a one day (Sunday) event.
EDDIE PEET AND ALF THOMAS CUPS
The semi-finals and finals could be played on 28th Sept and 5th Oct but how can we fit in the first 2 rounds???
OPTION TWO
Continue as at present, with 18 league games.
OPTION THREE
Have THREE Divisions of 9 teams in each. This would reduce the League games to 16.
It would not affect the League competitions or the cup matches. It would allow for rearranging postponed games and also allow room for any new teams to join the League.
To create these, 2 teams to be relegated from the Premier and 1 team promoted from the First. 2 teams relegated form the First and no teams promoted from the Second. After that there would be 2 relegated and 2 promoted from each Division.
OPTION FOUR+
Any suggestions from the clubs.
The Committee have given a lot of time and thought to these matters and do not express any preferences and may have overlooked some points or not considered other alternatives. We hope that by giving you time to consider this topic you can discuss it with your members and we would welcome in writing your views and any alternative suggestions and ideas.
It would be very helpful if your reply could be with me by 31st August.
Many thanks
Doug Murray
Secretary.
